Abstract: (17 Views)
Social accountability is an important theme in contemporary medical education. While originating in community-based education, social accountability is relevant to the academic medical center as a whole. Historically, institutions of medical education, while focusing on improving the health of the population writ large, to varying degrees neglect the care of the community in which they are situated. This inequity has been described as a form of colonialism.
