Abstract:   (69 Views)
Background: According to the importance of Marital adjustment between couples as well as its importance on physical and mental health, the current study was done to determine predictors of marital adjustment among females based on BASNEF model.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was done during the months of April to July 2023 among 300 married women aged 18 to 49 referred to health centers of Torbat Heydariyeh (North East of Iran) that were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling method.Data were collected using two part questionnaire including demographic characteristics as well as researcher-made BASNEF model constructs. Data were analyzed by descriptive and analytical statistics including Pearson Correlation and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SPSS 26 and Mplus software version6.
Results: The most of samples were between 30 and 40 years of age (37%), diploma (39.3%) and housewife (69.1%). Behavioral intention (ρ=0.635, p<0.05) and enabling factors (ρ=0.335, p<0.05) are directly effective on behavior and the effect of behavioral intention is stronger compared to enabling factors. But the enabling factors are also indirectly effective on the behavior by influencing the behavioral intention (ρ=0.196, p<0.05). Subjective norms indirectly influence behavior by influencing behavioral intention (ρ=0.175, p<0.05). Knowledge (ρ=0.082, p<0.05) and attitude indirectly (ρ=0.142, p<0.05) affect behavioral intention through subjective norms.
Conclusion: BASNEF model constructs are suitable predictors for marital adjustment. Therefore, it is suggested to design and implement educational interventions based on the BASNEF model for promoting marital adjustment among couples.
