uilding stronger primary care is more crucial than ever as health systems face aging populations, a surge in noncommunicable diseases, and tighter budgets. Medical schools have a unique opportunity to shape future doctors for ongoing community-focused care, but inconsistent and patchy clinical placements continue to hinder this process. Iran’s recent move to add a three-month family health internship to the undergraduate curriculum is a step in the right direction. However, early data and national surveys show that students have different experiences, and medical schools have not integrated internships evenly.
